FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You got questions, we got answers

What is proper candle care?

 - To prevent ''tunneling,'' allow enough time for the wax to melt completely to the edges of the container.

- Place the candle on a stable surface away from flammable objects before lighting it.

- Avoid burning the candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

- Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each use.

- Never leave a burning candle unattended.

- Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.

- STOP BURNING when there is less than 1/4 of wax left in the vessel.

Do you offer mini scent sample tins?

Yes, we do. We find that the mini scent tins do not offer an adequate experience to test the quality of our candles (i.e cold throw, hot throw, throw in general) but is great for testing out the scent and to check out the sound of the crackling wooden wick.

Check out sample kits here.

Since most people only buy the mini scent sample tins to easily test out the fragrance; we find this is a way to prevent waste and easily offer the customer an ability to sample all our fragrances.

What makes your candle eco-conscious?

All our candles are made with all natural soy coconut wax with no addictive or food grade paraffin blends.

- FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship council) crackling wooden wick

- The labels in the packaging box(the matte black gift box it comes in) and the warning label (at the bottom of the candle) is made of eco-friendly paper.

- Our dustcovers are wild flower seed paper, which is perfectly designed to use in the candle vessel (once cleaned and fully used, of course!). All you need to do is fill your vessel with potting soil, add your wildflower dustcover, and water your flowers-to-be regularly. Be sure to place in a sunny area. Then sit back and enjoy your wildflowers!

- Phthalate-free fragrance

- The shipping boxes are either reused, or post consumer waste boxes and are recyclable.

-Water-activated tape for sealing the package box

- A melt wick clip

- Our glass jars are reusable or recyclable but not food grade.

- The packing peanuts are biodegradable. Just let them melt down in some water.

These are the efforts we are putting forth to be more eco-conscious in our business practices as we grow and continue on in this journey we how to increase all these efforts.

Plastic materials we use:

- The branded label on front of the candle

- The Wick adhesive sticky (This keeps the wick in place). We hope to find a more sustainable way in the future.

- Our scent sample cards have some plastics to get that smooth vibe so that our wax does not disintegrate the material while cooling down. Same for our candle care card to preserve candle care instructions.

- Since we do not know the type of paper used on out gift boxes we will assume that it is not eco conscious, currently awaiting a statement from the manufacturer.

How can I use my clean my glass vessel so that I can reuse it?

In order to be able to reuse your glass vessels, you need to clean out the remaining wax residue. This can be done by heating the glass vessel in a simmering pot of water (make sure the water is not to high so that it does not splash into vessel)  to melt the residual wax. The wax will melt down and remain in the jar with the wick bit and the wick clip, both can be discarded. Then add some water to the vessel and wait for the wax to  float to the top, forming a wax block. Once fully cooled you may remove the wax block with a fork, then clean the inside of the jar with soap and water. To help with removing any labels, a blow dryer works wonders! If sticky residue is left on it, rubbing alcohol helps a ton.

What do I do if my wood wick keeps going out?

Wooden wicks are finicky some days, either the wick is too long or too short.

Try trimming the wick to ensure a proper burn. Wicks can be trimmed with a nail clip, wick trimmer, mini scissors or remove with tips of fingers (before lighting candle). Be sure to regularly trim wicks; we recommend a length of 3mm-5mm.

Another reason could be the wax is drowning the wick from tunneling or an uneven surface. This is easily remedied by soaking up some of the wax when wax is melted with a paper towel. Please do not do this when flame is lit!

How can I prevent my candle from tunneling?

To ensure candle does not tunnel, be sure to burn all the way to the edges of the candle vessel. This means that the entire top layer of the candle is completely melted. Tunneling happens when you extinguish the candle too soon before it has melted to the edges.

My candle has tunneled! What do I do?

Oh no, tunneled candles suck! But thankfully, they are easily fixed. First, grab some foil and make a foil wrap around the top sides of the candle. Light the candle from the top, so that it creates a mini oven which will allow the edges of the candle to melt down. To ensure that tunneling does not happen in the future make sure that you always burn the candle to the edges so that it does not form a memory ring and continue tunneling further.

The texture on my candle is weird and uneven, what do I do?

No worries, due to the nature of 100% soy coconut wax these imperfections are normal and natural and do not affect the candle quality at all. You may notice some frosting at the top of the candle this is also totally normal; it just shows that we are using very natural wax. This is produced from a variety of reasons, the the main one being that the wax cools at various temperatures, causing the uneven texture. Sometimes it will dry super smooth, while  other times it will dry unevenly.

Is my candle sweating?

Sometimes the fragrance oil comes up to the top of the candle, making it seem like it is sweating. This happens a lot due to the natural materials of our candles. This is common for 100% coconut soy wax. Due to the extreme temperature changes that occur with burning candles, the oil can naturally seep to the top of the candle. Be assured this does not affect the quality of your candle. If you'd like, you can just wipe off the top of the candle with a paper towel and continue using it as usual. To prevent this from happening in the future be sure to keep it at a neutral temperature and away from drafts and direct sunlight.

What type of shipping experience can I expect?

We ship out all orders in a minimum of three to five business days. This does not include processing time.

My flame is flickering, what can I do?

If the wooden wick is flickering or indicating that it is going down ineffectively. The wooden wick may be overlaid with wax making a bit more difficult to light. Once the wax melts on the wick more it will light more easily. Try relighting it a few times!

Some amount of flickering is a normal outcome of using all-natural wooden wicks. Each one is unique, and some flicker more than others! If you have a particularly flickery candle, accept it as a unique gift from mother nature :)
